Before the chimney pro comes

• Don't use the fireplace for 24 hours before a sweep, so the firebox is cold.
• Clear the hearth and the space in front of it, and move anything fragile off the mantel.
• Write down when it was last swept, if you know, and what kind of wood or gas logs you use.
